Introducing the Autside Play for All Foundation
At Autside, we’ve always believed in the power of play to bring people together, create joy, and build understanding. What started as a business creating outdoor games for inclusive play has now grown into something far bigger and more impactful than we ever imagined. We’re thrilled to share that Autside has officially transitioned to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization: the Autside “Play for All” Foundation.
This decision was born out of a deep desire to expand our mission beyond products and into community-building, awareness, and innovation that supports individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Inspired by my son Cam, who was diagnosed with autism, this journey has been both personal and transformative. We want to share what this transition means and how you can be part of this exciting new chapter.
Why the Transition?
Since our founding in 2022, Autside has focused on designing outdoor games that foster inclusive play experiences. We dedicated a portion of our sales to supporting nonprofits that serve families like ours. However, as we engaged with more communities and partners, it became clear that we had the potential to make an even greater impact.
The challenges faced by individuals with autism and IDD are multifaceted. Many experience social isolation and have fewer opportunities to engage in community activities due to sensory sensitivities and communication barriers. We realized that building inclusive environments and innovative solutions required more than just creating products—it required a platform dedicated to driving awareness, fostering partnerships, and supporting research.
Transitioning to a nonprofit allows us to:
-
Expand Our Community Impact: Partnering with local nonprofits, corporations, and community groups to co-host events and activations that bring people together.
-
Drive Innovation: Supporting research and development of new products and tools that empower neurodivergent individuals.
-
Raise Awareness: Using our platform and products to inspire inclusion and understanding.
Our Mission Moving Forward
The Autside “Play for All” Foundation is dedicated to creating joyful outdoor products, innovative partnerships, and healthy ecosystems that drive inclusion for the autism and IDD communities.
We will continue to:
-
Create Products with Purpose: Our outdoor games remain central to our mission. Every product sold will contribute to raising awareness and supporting our initiatives.
-
Build Community: Through strategic partnerships and events, we will foster social connections and support for families.
-
Fuel Research and Innovation: We will collaborate with partners to develop new tools and programs that address the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals.
What This Means for You
Our supporters, customers, and partners have always been the heart of Autside. With this transition, you can engage with us in even more meaningful ways:
-
Become a Community Impact Partner: Whether you’re an individual, nonprofit, or corporation, join us by co-hosting events and supporting inclusive play initiatives.
-
Support Our Mission: Donations are now tax-deductible and directly contribute to programs that build inclusive environments.
-
Play with Purpose: Continue purchasing and promoting Autside’s outdoor games, knowing that every purchase supports the autism and IDD communities.
